Band Tests

Band tests occur twice per semester. Usually one solo and one group test. The first occurs in October and is to be played live for Mr. Fraser. The next is a group test that is due before winter break.
In the second semester, you will have two more tests of the same format however, your second solo test can be submitted through email, soundcloud, etc. If you have any questions about your test you can either send Mr. Fraser a "Remind" message or an email
Band Tests:
Grade 11/12 Band Tests will be orchestral excerpts that can be found here.
Grade 9's will play from their music. The measure numbers can be found here.

Submissions can be emailed to Mr. Fraser and any submission will receive a response that it was received. If you don't get a response, then I didn't get it!
Group Band Tests:

Test music can be found here:

- imslp.org
- musescore.com
- google.ca
- The Band Room
- Long & McQuade
- St. John's Music

The more variety in instrumentation that you have, the more difficult it will be to find music. Might I suggest:

Brass Quintet (trumpet x 2, French horn, trombone/euph, and tuba)
Woodwind Quintet ( flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon (or another bass clef instrument) and French horn
instrument trios, quartets, quintets, etc of the same family (ie. clarinet trio)
Percussion ensemble

To make it easier, try and stay with instruments that play in the same key as you:

B-flat instruments:  Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Tenor Sax, Trumpet

C Treble instruments:  Flute, Oboe, Mallet Percussion

C Bass instruments: Bassoon, Trombone, Euphonium, Tuba, Timpani, String Bass

E-flat instruments:  Alto Sax, Bari Sax

F instruments:  French horn
